Meet the founder
Zanele Monyai is the visionary founder and driving force behind Nelle Mavri, a premium haircare brand born to celebrate, elevate, and protect African beauty standards. Like so many Black women, Zanele’s relationship with her hair has been a deeply personal journey. For years, she faced the frustrating and emotionally taxing realities of hair shedding, severe thinning, and a receding hairline. In her quest for healing, she found a market flooded with generic products that either offered empty promises or completely misunderstood the unique anatomy of textured hair. She realized that Black women were constantly being asked to compromise, either settling for heavy, artificial synthetics or subpar moisture that left hair brittle.
Nelle Mavri was born out of necessity, rejecting the idea that textured haircare should ever be a compromise. Marrying plant-based science with rich nourishment, the brand creates luxurious, high-performance routines that have already served a community of over 2,000 happy crowns to date.
